Purpose of the Chase Bangerter Blog

Hello everyone.  This is Chase Bangerter and I want to discuss about the purpose of my blog.  The number one thing that you can expect from this blog is that I'll be talking about mostly movies and video games.  I think that there are a lot of things to talk about and this blog would work great in talking about those two.  I will mostly do reviews, top tens, and special posts about anything on movies and video games.  I will not strictly just do the two as I may talk about sports or tv shows or anything else in the world.  So with that in mind, I hope you enjoy my blog.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was the last game in Solid Snake's adventure and it really felt that the creators put all of their effort to create such as an amazing game as this one.  The stealth gameplay is one of the best in gaming as I always felt that I'm always at the tip of my toes and the huge action stuff in this game was also done just as well.  The boss fights are some of the best in gaming as each one is very unique and they provide a good amount of challenge to me as a gamer.  Obviously, the series is known for their great story lines as this one is of no exception as every character have a lot of depth and weight to each one that I felt connected to them.  It's surprisingly emotional and I felt satisfied on how each one receive their own closure as well as the game.  Metal Gear Solid 4 definitely went out with a bang and is one of my favorite games of its generation.

Resident Evil 4

There are very few games that I could think that constantly put me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole entire game and Resident Evil 4 is the master of that art.  The game has an incredible ability to keep me interested throughout the whole entire game.  The constantly changing themes and levels along with a constant swarm of enemies that keeps on getting creepier as I progress through the game.  The bosses were awe inspiring and incredibly intense that made felt victorious when I beat each one.  By far the most amazing aspect about this game is that it felt like that as I progress through the game, it just keeps on getting better and better until the very end.  Resident Evil 4 is definitely one of my favorite game that I've ever played.

Half-Life 2

Going into this game, I had some pretty high expectations as I was expecting it to be the best first-person shooting game in its genre.  Not only did Half-Life 2 met my exceedingly high expectation, it destroyed it and made me realize on what gaming can do.  The world that the game sent me felt as real as any video game I've ever played through.  The graphics is simply timeless and the physics are top notch, as it opens up a lot of gameplay elements that no other game could provide, especially when I'm in control of the gravity gun. The gameplay control is smooth, the levels are well thought out, and the enemies are well varied and smartly designed.  To add it all up, I cannot recall a single moment where I'm not completely engaged into the game.  Half-Life 2 is easily one of the best video games I've ever played.

Metroid Prime

When I first heard that they’re making a 3D Metroid game and the direction that the game is gonna go through, I thought the game was going to bomb.  But to my pleasant surprise, it is one of the strongest games I've ever played for its generation, let alone, in the history of gaming.  It was able to capture everything that’s great from Super Metroid and translate it perfectly to the Gamecube with its amazing atmosphere, a very balanced difficulty level, and awe-inspiring enemies and bosses.  The world of Tallon IV is an amazing place to explore and the puzzles and level designs is one of the best in gaming.  The gameplay is also top notch as I feel that I'm in complete control of Samus Aran, making me feel like as if I am the main character.  Metroid Prime is definitely one of Nintendo’s greatest games that they have ever produced.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

When I think of a follow-up game, I can't think of a single game that would be harder to succeed from than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.  However, not only did The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask took on that challenge, it became just as incredible as it's predecessor.  What makes it such a great game is the fact on how different it is from every game ever made, including its own franchise, and the chances they took in this game.  The three-day system is the most ingenious part of the game as it creates a lot of tension playing through the game along with creating a believable world with a lot of depth.  It thrives on having great, familiar gameplay mechanics while at the same time, expanding it to new levels with a variety of gamplay designs thanks to it's masks system.  The game focuses on side-quests and it's probably the best I've played in any game because each quest is unique along with the people you help in this game.  On top of all that, the game created an amazing atmosphere with it's dark and emotional undertone throughout most of the game.  The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is simply a one of a kind game that I probably will never play again and it's easily one of my favorite games.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

If I have to choose one game that I would consider to be the epitome of gaming, the answer has to be Nintendo's masterpiece, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.  Almost everything about this game is perfect.  The gameplay mechanics and design is simply one of the best, if not, the best, that any game has to offer.  It's very smooth, it's flowing, the battles between the enemies are well designed, and the land of Hyrule that you explore is completely memorable from top to bottom.  The game feels huge with it's massive and well-varied world, awe inspiring enemies and bosses, and a great sense of adventure with a good story-line with great lore, almost something right out of the Lord of the Rings.  The level design is extremely creative as the dungeons has some of the most ingenious puzzles ever put together.  And to top it all off, the game offers, quite easily, the most exciting and thrilling climax in gaming history.  The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece from top to bottom that set the standard for every game after it.
